Puccini, AT&T’s First 4G LTE Tablet!

HTC’s long alleged next tablet might be around the corner. The tablet is codenamed HTC Puccini. The tablet is named after an Italian composer Giacomo Puccini who was a composer and his operas are most frequently performed around the globe.

The tablet conceded through FCC today, indicating an impending initiate. The HTC Puccini would be AT&T’s first 4G LTE tablet. According to the FCC reports, Puccini runs on AT&T’s 3G (WCDMA bands II and V) but it also supports the carrier’s brand new LTE network (both 700 and 1700MHz bands).

This sounds like the palpable reason; AT&T delayed the tablet’s release earlier this year, since AT&T started the expansion of its 4G LTE network lately. Specifications are unverified, of course; however as expected, HTC will go for a 1.5Ghz Qualcomm MSM8660 dual core processor or may for an option like Nvidia’s Tegra 2.

Puccini will come with Honeycomb (Android’s tablet optimized version). The Puccini will also sport a 10-inch 1280×800-resolution screen and support for 720p HDvideo which will certainly boast a multi-touch and stylus capable display.

The company’s thinking to look for idiosyncratic features like special stylus controller and a proprietary interface that can lead the tablet in the current sprint of futuristic tablets. We will all have to wait and see if the HTC Puccini does As well as Giacomo Puccini’s master pieces…

Windows 8 Build 8042 Compiled

Windows 8 is still being worked on, getting some major kinks ironed out in hopes of a smooth April 2012 launch, as the company had earlier said. However, a new Milestone 3 Build had just been completed and was compiled on July 7th.

The most recent build was unsuccessful in fixing all the broken features but expects a refresh by the next build. The most recent build was focused on perfecting the new user interface and ensuring its functionality.

I think the last thing we all want to see is a constant “Windows Explorer crash” as was seen on early versions of Windows Vista when it had just come out.

While Microsoft continues to squash bugs for a successful Windows 8 launch, consumers are likely to jump on board with the next operating system at the release of the second service pack.

The company is also working on a bunch of new Live services as well as a seamless integration with Windows 8. Currently the two are not synchronized with each other. I’ll be excited to see what the build looks like by the end of this year as I am sure it will have information about the cloud

iOS 4.3.4 Gets Jailbroken, Despite Recent Update...

Just last week, we wrote about Apple’s upcoming iOS 4.3.4 and how it would prevent people from jailbreaking their devices.

Well, it looks like the iPhone can still be hacked, at least to an extent. In order to continue using your jailbroken phone or iPad, simply keep the unit hooked up to your PC via the sync cable and you’ll be able to continue using your machine.

Of course, the whole purpose between jailbreaking a portable device is so you can stay mobile (not tethered to your desktop PC all day). The security update also patched an integer overflow-related bug, an incomplete code signing issue.

Now, just because you can continue to use a jailbroken device with the latest PDF patch, doesn’t mean the Apple dev team won’t find another way around “solving the jailbreaking epidemic”.

Hopefully, there will be a couple clever hackers who will find another way to jailbreak their iOS devices, but I guess we will just have to wait and see who will be ballsy enough to stand up to this version of iOS, and if iOS 5 will be immune to jailbreaking. Check out the video to learn more about the Commix Jailbreak, if you haven’t already updated.....

Amazon Launches Textbook Rentals For Cash-Strapped .....

The popular online retailer, Amazon, today launched textbook rentals for the upcoming Fall semester that hopes to put a serious dent in current textbook prices. As many of you know, textbooks are almost always sold by the college itself, but at much higher prices than you can find elsewhere.

Sometimes you only save $10 or $20, but other times you can save over $100 per textbook, which is a significant savings for any cash-strapped college student.

Amazon claimed in a statement that they will begin to offer textbooks from John Wiley & Sons, Elsevier and Taylor & Francis. The neat thing about these rentals are that they will be delivered on the Amazon Kindle (an electronic reader), and students will only have to pay for the time they are using them.

Additionally, students can rent a digital textbook on a per-month or per-year basis, giving them flexibility for those longer two-semester courses. No word on what kind of prices you can expect, and I’m sure there will be a lot of variance between course study, but I expect the service will save college students enough to buy a Kindle in the first place.

For Amazon, they’ll be able to meet their Kindle sales quota, so I guess that’s a good thing. Personally, I’ve never enjoyed digital copies of textbooks when it came to reading them on a laptop or a desktop computer, but have never tested them out on a tablet.....
