Chrome OS; Superior To Windows 7?

Google co-founder Sergey Brin made some interesting points at the Google I/O conference. Brin states some reasons on why he and co-founder Larry Page decided to create an operating system. Brin claims that Windows is “too much of a hassle to use” and maintain, offering the company’s new Chrome operating system as a solution to consumers’ problems. Although Brin noted that Windows 7 has got some great security features, he believes that the complexity of maintaining a computer tortures its users.

If you think about it, it kind of makes sense. Ifcomputer maintenance wasn’t so difficult for some people, would consumers be willing to pay $100 and up for computer repairs at local shops and businesses? Of course not. I’ve been “geeking” on computers for the past 14 years and I still learn new things everyday.

Computer maintenance can get complex at times, and there is often not a simple solution of avoidance. Google believes it offers a seamless updating mechanism that is superior to Windows update, making updates and computer management seemingly invisible to the user. At this point, it’s all a nice speech to hear but the proof is in the pudding. I think consumers will get a very good feeling about whether or not Chrome lives up to the hype, and whether or not it is superior to Windows. I think we’ll know the answer to that question soon enough.

Apple Launching Ultra-Thin MacBook

Just after launching MacBook Air recently, now Apple is working towards an Ultra-thin MacBook with a 15 inch of display. The new ultra-thin MacBook is undergoing some final stages of testing and might be launched soon.
Apple made the slim Mac Mini by removing the DVD drive from them. It seems Apple will be removing DVD drives from MacBook Pros as well. Which would produce an ultra-slim MacBook of the future.
Earlier, the Apple got rid of the Floppy Drives and now they are entirely getting rid of the DVD drives. The recent OS X Lion launched by Apple is the first Operating System to be released without a DVD or any physical storage drive. Although one might get OS X Lion in a USB drive in the near future.
The MacBook users won’t be needing so much storage drive after the recent release of iCloud service. The users can store and acces their data any time from the cloud.
The name of the new MacBook is still a mystery. No one knows if it will be called the MacBook Air or will it replace the MacBook Pro. There is no prediction of price as well.

Japan’s mobile carriers, every summer, are releasing a number of attention-grabbing handsets which are all a part of their summer 2011 program.

The Japanese market too are getting swamped and taken over by smart phones specifically by iPhones and Android, however, the Japanese mobile carriers are persistent too and it seems like they would sit back from introducing their cell phones. Lately they have rolled out some really cool featured smart phones.

Casio CA-01C, which NTT Docomo (leading Japanese telco) started distributing, is one of its kind. Precisely, the device can be called a quality phone, but it outshines all the other smartphones out there when it comes to most specifications.

The specs are 3.4-inch/naked-eye 3D touch display with 480×854 resolution, 0.8-inch OLED sub-display, 16.3MP CMOS sensor, camera: special mobile Exilim engine, full HD video recording, 3D picture display, 3x digital zoom, LED flash, DLNA support, dust-and waterproof body, Wi-Fi IEEE802.11n, Bluetooth, infrared connection, digital TV tuner, E-wallet function, battery: 220 minutes continuous talk time, 560 hours stand-by on 3G.

The specs sounds wild, but actually this device is a phone and digital Exilim camera integrated into one. One of its functions called the business shot automatically corrects shots taken diagonally in conference rooms or halls. Expectations are such phones will restore the lost legacy of Japanese mobile carriers,,,

16GB RAM Now Available For Your Mac Mini

If you were holding off on getting a Mac Mini because it didn’t have enough hardware specs for you to multi-task over 3 or 4 LCD screens, you may be interested in this piece of news.

Apple has just updated their lineup of Mac Mini computers, and I am pleased to say that they now support up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM (Random Access Memory).

Now, before you get too excited, I have to mention that Apple has always charged a premium for top-of-the-line upgrades, while I purchased 16GB of DDR3 RAM for my desktop PC for $530, Apple is charging $1400 for 16GB (2 x 8GB) for their upgrade.

The sticks themselves are manufactured by OWC, but are nonetheless super expensive, given Apples proprietary nature.

The bottom line, at least for me, is to get a PC if you’re looking to have 16GB of memory in your computer, unless of course, you’re rich. Listed below are all the different variations you can opt for, if you choose to upgrade your current Mini, followed by a video on how to upgrade.
OWC 4GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit (2x 2GB memory modules): $37.99
OWC 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit (2x 4GB memory modules): $79.99
OWC 12GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit (8GB + 4GB memory modules): $749.99
OWC 16GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory Kit (2x 8GB memory modules): $1399.99
